One of the most common concerns of most bloggers is answering the question "What benefits will I gain when I submit my blog to blog directories?" The answers to this question are quite varied, with some opting to submit to several blog directories at a time, with others failing to see much point in it. Based on my impressions of most web experts opinions however, I have realized favorable results when I submit my blog to a small number of blog directories soon after starting it up.
Some of the more obvious benefits I have gained when I submit my blog to blog directories are the almost immediate backlinks I got to my blog. The result was that my websites became more "attractive" to search engines, which indexed them more readily and in turn caused them to achieve a higher ranking in search engine results pages.
Search engines particularly value these links. All things being equal, search engines place a higher value on pages that have more links, since this is a sign of a worthy blog. it was this realization that allowed me to get favorable results after I submit my blog to a few directories. I also learned that it wasnt actually the directory list that gave me more hits on my site.
There remains some contention with regard to how many directories is the right number to submit my blog to. Opinions range from the modest to the outlandish, with some people of the thinking that I should submit my blog to as many different blog directories as I could manage.
Many web experts agree that as little as 5 to 10 blog directories may actually be more than enough. For although search engines are attracted to sites that have plenty of links, they are more likely to place a higher value on links that are featured on on topic posts and articles, as opposed to those that come from blog directories.
My primary concern at this point was how to find blog directories that I could submit my blog to. A simple online search for "blog directory" will actually get you hundreds of potential directories to check out. In fact, many of the better blog directories came in at the top of the search results pages.
I have often run into blog directories that require me to post backlinks or impose certain other requirements. I tend to shy away from those blog directories, and instead I tried to submit my blog to blog directories that were a lot less rigid.
Most blog directories let you go through the submission process fairly quickly, while others may require a lot more time. I felt that it would be best to skip the ones that take longer, and instead spend a few minutes in order to submit my blog only to a few blog directories. I was then able to focus on producing better content that resulted in more links. Reference Blogging - Top blogs -
